Are severe nightime leg cramps a symptom of MG?

Not sure if they are MG related or medication related as I have heard both. However I get them regularly, especially when I have done a lot of work outside using my legs a lot. I get them mostly at night but sometimes during the day if I move my leg a certain way. One of the gifts of MG that keep on giving.

When I have the cramps, I know to get bloodwork done for the BUM test. I track the blood test results for years that helps explain how my hydration levels are and how far back I have had issues. If you get infusions make sure to get premeditations for IV fluids. The reason why is that IV fluids contain salt and other minerals. I also substitute PowerADE Zero Calories and 50% more Electrolytes per 20 fluid oz. (B12 is 60% DV) has salt (400 milligrams) and magnesium. I was diagnosed along time ago, and I know when to eat beef hotdogs and bacon is the salt part added. Due to swallowing I buy the skinless beef hotdogs and then I don’t get chocked as at. Very affordable for us on limited budget and then the bacon is two slices an every other day! I also substitute two eggs for breakfast! It’s hard to keep living when people are allowed to hurt the vulnerable! Others neglect dates back before 2014 of June and they may have to amputate my leg due to others!

    Hey Nancy.

They’re not a symptom, but they could be a side effect of lots of different things. Low magnesium, low potassium, medications you’re on, dehydration, physical exertion that caused muscle strain, etc.

Check in with your primary care team if they bothersome so y’all can determine what the cause is and develop a plan of attack to help you feel better.

Thank you for your reply. What about leg aching? Is that a known symptom of an MG flair?
